Appendix 3: Ideation per requirement
Horse and bike position
In the sketches below some ideation can be seen that would allow the user to be in horse (spread legs) and bike position (one leg forwards, one backwards). The focus was mainly on different systems that would allow these movements. For example: hydraulic presses and rods.
Stability
In the following sketch you can see an exoskeleton which is mostly focused on supporting the knee cavity to improve stability whilst standing. The knee cavity support is made from a soft cushion/fabric and the support at the back and sides from plastic. The plastic support still allows movement of the knees. Lastly, the support has adjustable straps around the ankles, knees and thighs.
Adjustability
In the drawings below, easily moveable standards can be found which could possibly be part of a bigger solution. The first one is soft and can be stepped in from the back. The second one can be stepped in from the top, and can be adjusted by a rail. The third one has two separate places for the feet, and the fourth one would be a clicking system which could be combined with shoes.
The sketches below are also parts of bigger solutions. The first is a standard with where the exoskelet could be fixed to. The second one is a chair, where the feet can move inwards and outwards. The third one is a standard with two feet. The standard can change angle and is connected to the knees. The fourth is a piece of furniture, which prevents falling to the left and to the right.
To stretch the muscles while standing
In the sketches below some ideas were generated which would help the participant to stretch the muscles while standing. In the first drawing an exoskeleton is sketched which forces the muscles upright in standing position.
In the drawing below a frame is sketched which would allow the muscles to stretch, while holding the desired position.
